District competition isn’t the end of DECA! We have many more opportunities to build transferable skills for college and careers. All members can participate in these upcoming DECA opportunities:
DECA Scholarships: Deadline January 12
DECA awards over $200,000 in scholarships each year. See Google Classroom Instructions on how to apply and your login information.
Virtual Business Challenge Round 2: January 16–26
Test your skills in one or all of the online business simulations: Entrepreneurship, Fashion, Restaurant, Hotel, Sports, Personal Finance, Retailing, and Accounting. Session runs January 16–26. See Google Classroom Instructions. Winners qualify to compete in Anaheim, CA this spring!
Unreal Campaign Video Challenge: Deadline January 19
Teams of 1-3 members create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) 60 seconds encouraging teens to avoid the dangers of counterfeit products. Get creative and see the Google Classroom Instructions or the link above for more details. Winners attend ICDC in Anaheim, CA!
MASS-DECA Design Challenges: Deadline January 19
Qualify for ICDC by designing the state t-shirt, pin, hat, video, meme & more. See Google Classroom Instructions for details. These designs are distributed to MASS-DECA members. Talk about resume building design experience!
Student Social Media Challenge: Feb 1–March 1
Do you have what it takes to a successful social media marketer? The Social Media Challenge is your opportunity to compete against students across the country by managing a fictitious company’s $5k weekly social media budget. Students will play 4 rounds of the simulation and learn about targeting, content scheduling, and promotion to drive product sales. Sign up details will be posted in Google Classroom soon. Top 3 competitors earn cash prizes and qualify for ICDC in Anaheim, CA!
#OneDECA National Calls: February 6 & March 5
Join the monthly #OneDECA Calls where members have the opportunity to learn, collaborate and unite as part of the DECA community. Stay up-to-date on all things DECA, meet new members to expand your network and collaborate with other leaders based on the monthly topic. See Google Classroom Instructions for more details.
MDA Disability Challenge: Deadline February 16
Teams of 1-4 members create a Disability is Diversity presentation highlighting the obstacles and experience of navigating an educational environment with different abilities. See Google Classroom Instructions for more details. Winners attend ICDC in Anaheim, CA!
DECA Speaker Series: Learn about potential careers in various industries when business professionals speak about their experience and what it takes to be successful. After midyear exams, our January speakers include Judge William Martin, successful restaurateur and owner of A&B Burgers Tom Holland, Special Agent for the FBI Chris Hughes, and many more continuing through the spring semester. Passes are available at the library help desk.
