DECA Competition

Hamilton Wenham had a great weekend at the DECA State Conference. The Hamilton Wenham DECA Chapter returned home triumphant on Saturday, March 1, from the 66th annual Massachusetts DECA State Career Development Conference (SCDC) at the Westin Seaport and Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) with 12 students qualifying for the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, FL.

As we move towards spring, here are upcoming DECA events for all DECA members: 

• DECA ICDC Leadership Application Deadline: Monday, March 3 noon
  Reminder that the deadline for applications to attend ICDC in Orlando for leadership training is tomorrow at noon. The application was posted in Google Classroom a few weeks ago. Any member can apply! 
   
• Stock Market Game: Deadline to enter the spring session is Friday, March 7. Email Mrs. Wheeler to start your investing portfolio. Trading period ends April 11.
   
• 10-Minute Trainings: Be on the lookout for our spring series of 10-Minute Trainings in topics like resume writing, creating a LinkedIn profile, time management techniques, and more! Keep an eye on Google Classroom and an ear out for announcements.
   
• DECA Speaker Series: Learn about potential careers in various industries when business professionals speak about their experience and what it takes to be successful. Listen to announcements for our next speaker opportunity! 
   
• HW’s Got Talent: Do you have a talent to share??? Previous acts have included: singing, dancing, instrumentals, bands, film shorts, comedy skits, and magic tricks! Guest judges will be awarding prizes for the winners. Date and details will be announced soon for this collaborative event with the theater crew.

How can you help? 

Remind your child it’s all about experience and we support them regardless of how they place. Encourage them to review this Role Play Guide, come to a practice session, and sign up for the Mock Competition. Confidence is the best skill gained at DECA and it comes from all of us making sure that each student knows we believe they can do it!
