RECENT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
HW Athletics Earns Cape Ann League's Hyland Award (6/12/24)
The Cape Ann League has presented its highest honor, the Hyland Award, to Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School's Athletic Department for the fourth time in the last five years it has been presented (The award was not given in 2021).
The Generals also won the award in 2019, 2020, and 2023. The distinction is presented to the school that demonstrates overall excellence in athletics in the areas of academic success, community service, participation, sportsmanship, and on-field success.
The Generals scored at or near the top of almost all categories that factor into the award. Most notable, Hamilton-Wenham led the league in participation rates once again with 76% of the school's student population involved in at least one sport. Additionally, each of the 22 Varsity Sports hosted by the Regional earned the league's academic distinction. Finally, over 70% of Varsity Teams participated in a Community Service event during their seasons.
The Generals have excelled on the fields of competition this year as well. Over 80% of teams have qualified for the MIAA State Tournament with Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Volleyball, and Girls Lacrosse reaching the Elite Eight. Boys Tennis reached their third consecutive Final Four. Girl's Tennis has also reached the Final Four and will attempt to earn their third straight State Title this week. Factoring into the Hyland Award presentation were league titles for Boys & Girls Cross Country, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, and Boys Tennis.
