HW Spring Meeting Notes (3/13/24 - 9:00 AM)

HW State Tournament Update (UPDATED: 3/5/24 - 8:00 AM)

HW Girls Basketball (13-10) lost to #3 South Hadley High School on the road in the Sweet Sixteen of the Division IV MIAA State Tournament last night, 63-42.   The Generals, making their fourth straight State Tournament appearance as well as their second Sweet Sixteen birth in three years, fell behind early to the Tigers of South Hadley and had a hard time getting back in the game.  Still, the Generals made a gallant effort at the end with a 10-0 burst to start the 4th Quarter.  HW earned thirteen wins during their terrific season, including two in the State Tournament.  Congratulations to our Seniors as well as the entire program.

HW Boys Basketball (12-10) fell to David Prouty High School on the road in the Round of 32 in the Division IV MIAA State Tournament last Friday, 58-55.  The Generals conclude their season having made it back to the State Tournament for the first time since 2020 (They were CAL Champs in the COVID shortened 2021 season).  After a tight first half that saw HW take a one point lead into the break, the Generals raced out to a 15 point lead mid way through the 3rd Quarter.  However, David Prouty showed why they only have a few losses over the last couple years and used a 26-8 run to propel them to the victory and advance.  Congratulations to the Generals (who won the Patton Tournament late last month) and almost pulled off a major upset last week.

HW Cheer competed in the the MSAA North Regional Championships yesterday at Billerica High School.  The Generals finished 3rd in Division IV.  Though they did not advance, HW qualified for Regionals this year for the first time since 2015.  Coach Paquette and the squad, led by their seven seniors, earned the respect of the opposing teams at each of their five competitions.  Congratulations on a memorable season!
