To develop an Educational Plan, the school building committee invited community stakeholders into a visioning process to determine what a new elementary school could provide for our students. The Ed Plan provides the guiding principles, goals, and features the team uses to develop the elementary school design. You can watch the informational video HERE.

During the 2021-2022 school year, the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School District developed the Portrait of a Learner (formerly Portrait of a Graduate), which highlights six competencies that will help students become successful and engaged members of their communities. Each week, we will highlight one of the competencies from the Portrait of a Learner.
This week, the focus is on Communicate. Students practice this competency across all subject areas in a variety of ways. Writing, speaking, and listening are skills that are used in all classes, and students receive frequent feedback on their development of these skills. In addition, extracurricular activities such as athletics and the performing arts afford multiple opportunities to build on the competency of Communicate.
Here are the "I Can" statements for Communicate:
"I can effectively articulate thoughts, ideas, and feelings using oral, written, and non-verbal skills for a range of purposes and audiences."
"I can actively listen to others to understand meaning, values, attitudes, and intentions."
